Surrounded by Victorian homes in the Old Louisville district of Louisville, Ky., the Central Park B&B is located across the street from Central Park, a popular spot for picnicking a festival venue. Downtown Louisville and the Fourth Street Live Entertainment District are one and one half miles away. Churchill Downs Racetrack, home of the Kentucky Derby, is less than two miles away.
Hotel Features. This 1884 historic inn was constructed by Vernon D. Price, a Louisville businessman who eventually served as the president of the Evening Post. Fine period furnishings and hand crafted ornamentation are featured throughout the house. Original details include stained glass windows, oak woodwork, and intricately hammered brass hardware. The back porch, complete with rockers, overlooks the gardens and a fish pond with a bubbling fountain. The common rooms offer a game table for playing cards or chess. A complimentary three course breakfast is served each morning in the elegant dining room, garden patio, or veranda. On site amenities include business services, free parking, and a spa tub.
Guestrooms. The 18 guestrooms at Central Park B&B feature private bathrooms (some en suite and sitting areas. Some rooms have fireplaces and jetted tubs. Guestrooms are decorated with period antiques and furnishings, yet contain many modern comforts such as cable television, VCRs, and high speed Internet access.
Expert Tip. Huber's Orchard and Winery, a 25 mile drive from the Central Park B&B, stretches across 550 acres of farmland and offers a farmer's market, cheese shop, ice cream factory, winery and gift shop. The fare at the Joe Huber Family Farm and Restaurant consists entirely of dishes made from scratch.
