Location. Sudbury Inn, a circa 1873 country inn, is located in the center of the mountain village of Bethel, Maine. It is across the street from shopping, and within walking distance of an 18 hole golf course, movie theater and Bethel Camp for the Arts. Bicycle loops from five to 75 miles begin at the Inn's front door. (Maps are available at the front desk. The Androscoggin River is less than a mile away for fishing and canoeing. For skiers, the Sunday River Ski Resort and Mount Abram are both 10 minutes from the inn.
Hotel Features. Popular with generations of skiers, hikers and tourists, the inn offers lodging, fine dining and a lively pub. Upstairs, the dining room features casual elegance, a warm fire and fine food and wine. Downstairs, Suds Pub offers pizza, hearty sandwiches, 29 draught beers and live music. A full country breakfast (with choices such as Maine blueberry pancakes, herbivore or carnivore omelets and homemade granola is complimentary, with a generous continental breakfast offered in the slow season. Guests are welcome to relax in a rocking chair on the front porch or in front of the fireplace in the lobby.
Guestrooms. Accommodations range from a select room with a queen bed and private bath to deluxe two room suites with a king bed in one room, twin beds in the adjoining room and a hot jet tub in the full size bath. All rooms have cable television and air conditioning.
Expert Tip. For day hikes, the Inn's staff can direct guests to trails in the Mahoosuc mountains, Grafton Notch State Park and the Evans Notch region of the White Mountain National Forest. Trailheads are 10 to 15 minutes from the Inn.
